I started a boutique wine import business (aux nuages) several years ago with focus on artisanal wineries from select European wine regions - currently focused on Portugal, Spain, France, and Italy. This has become my day job, but I also do specialist consultancy work on corporate governance and relating to my professional background in corporate finance.I have cooperated long term with a boutique search firm and consultancy in Japan (ProNed, Inc.) with focus on corporate governance and independent board directors. Corporate governance in Japan somehow needs to be reinvented from the ground up, but consciousness of corporate governance has grown dramatically in recent years.Prior to this I have 17 years of banking experience, including 15 years at Citibank and two years at UBS. Most of my experience in that industry was in syndicated loans, M&A, leveraged finance, structured finance, and credit underwriting and distribution. I have lived in Asia for nearly 30 years, including 20+ years in Japan and 7 years before that in Greater China (Hong Kong, Beijing, and Taipei).Language skills include spoken and written Japanese and Mandarin Chinese. Additionally I have some spoken and reading knowledge of French and German. I also have a great deal of experience with wine and spirits, first as a hobby and then professionally. I also like math and science, I was trained in mathematics in university and still find it fascinating.
