The built environment is facing significant social, environmental, and economic challenges that require new approaches to data sharing and management. Decentralization, through collaboration platforms and data marketplaces, has the potential to make construction data sets more consistent, efficient, and accessible to all participants. However, there is a limited understanding of how specific web3 concepts, such as decentralized data marketplaces, can be deployed at scale.The goal of my research is to examine how decentralized data marketplaces can address challenges in current data management processes and demonstrate their relevance for improving data foundations, enabling effective data processing, and creating a cross-phase multi-party data system for all participants in the industry. My research also explores the application of decentralized data distribution protocols, blockchain, semantic web, and linked data to the built environment.
