Production support, Monitoring, custom coding in Python, Ruby, and bash. Responsible for high-level architectural decisions. Automating the deployment and configuration of our multi-tiered service; tiers consisted of ZooKeeper, Kafka, ElasticSearch, and custom API/Indexer tiers. Working on migrating from Ansible to Chef and automating our infrastructure deployment through Terraform. Currently, I'm leading my team in building out an automated pipeline to build out AMIs for AWS ec2. This pipeline is using Packer with a Chef Provisioner for configuration management, ServerSpec for verifying the build, and a Consul cluster to act as a librarian for created AMIs. We have also modified our Terraform configs to use Consul as a central configuration data store. All of the variables that were once hardcoded in Terraform are now looked up in Consul (including AMI, subnets, dns zones, and other configuration items). This allows us to more easily abstract our configs from the actual environment, thus allowing us to share our Terraform configs with our customers and easily spin up architecture in new AWS environments. We have a Jenkins job that kicks off a new AMI build anytime there is a new application artifact.

Cloud:Managing and provisioning the majority of our AWS Infrastructure. This requires custom code using Python's boto library as well as Ansible for configuring each instance. There's also a bit of legacy Ruby code and Puppet configs that need to be maintained/tweaked. Continuous Deployment:I'm developing a continuous deployment pipeline for building AMI's and creating YUM repos for each new release.Monitoring:I'm currently designing, developing, and deploying monitoring infrastructure for over 5000 servers and other devices. This infrastructure is using a combination of OSSEC, LogStash, and a custom monitoring framework for the monitored servers. As there weren't any products that exactly matched our use case (we needed to be able to separate customers, regions, and stores), I had to build the backend from scratch The backend uses Redis, Flask, and Logstash in order to receive HTTP JSON requests, process the input, and push into MoogSoft. Most of this infrastructure lives in AWS. In order to scale quickly and allow an easier iterative development process, I had to develop automated provisioning for all of the services and the EC2 nodes themselves. I've also just completed an integration between MoogSoft and BMC RemedyForce that allows us to create incidents in RemedyForce from MoogSoft situations and allow us to track both from either tool. Provisioning:Leading a small team in developing core infrastructure and code for automating our server build and device configuration process. This system is using a combination of Ansible, Cobbler, MongoDB, Redis, and device specific custom code. This system is stable and we are now beginning work on integrating this system with Netsuite and BMC RemedyForce.
