As a member of the Early Intervention Cohort, I received and resolved complaints by employees against employers for contraventions of the British Columbia Employment Standards Act. Principal duties included interviewing complainants and respondents, gathering and analyzing evidence, applying the Employment Standards Act to facts, negotiating settlements between disputants, and where necessary, drafting and submitting determinations and applying penalties in accordance with the Act.

This role was one of the most diverse I have ever held -- no two days were the same! As Business Development Coordinator, my duties ranged from website and social media development and maintenance, to organizing a client appreciation event for 120+ clients and sponsors, to designing advertisements for print and web, to client acquisition and retention, and virtually everything in between.This was a real "people person" role. It involved many meetings with management, sponsors, prospective clients, staff volunteers, and others on a regular basis, and taught me much about how to lead (and when to follow). The Business Development Coordinator role was highly demanding, often dealing in time-sensitive matters, and one that frequently pushed my diverse skill-set to its limits. I learned more (about web design, marketing, team-leading, business organization, and more) in this role than any other I have held -- constant learning and adaptation were the key to success.

The Property Management Coordinator role involved a multitude of administrative, financial, corporate, and maintenance-oriented functions critical to the successful functioning of housing co-operative organizations. The role included frequent written and verbal communication with members, boards of directors, contractors, municipalities, and provincial and federal authorities. Further, the role required a range of duties from rent collection, bookkeeping and monthly financials preparation, monthly performance meetings with boards of directors, maintenance staff scheduling, and more.The Property Management Coordinator position was a front-facing role, and demanded patience, poise, strong customer service skills, organizational acumen, and a whole lot of thinking on your feet! As no two clients were alike in their needs or approaches, the position taught me much about getting to the core of issues quickly, and envisioning and implementing creative solutions that meet the individual needs of clients.
