I returned to Cal Engineering & Geology to run its Oakland office. The Oakland office was formed in the mid 2000's as the home for our soils laboratory. Under my direction it has grown to be a certifed soils and materials testing laboratory recognized by AMRL, CCRL, and the Army Corps of Engineers. Now one of three offices with an expansion to San Jose, the Oakland office serves as the testing and special inspection home for the company. In additon to testing and forensic distress evalatuations, I have expanded my expertise to include engineering and testing for public works agencies, and have been deposed and testified in expert witness cases.

At Construction Materials Testing I received my first experience in the field of special inspection. I was the signing engineer in charge of over 100 inspectors for commerical, residential, school, hospital, industrial, and public works projects. My duties included the technical review of field dailies, quality control/quality assurance, and itneraction with field inspectors.

ENCON was a design-build firm that I founded which specialized in private works projects. ENCON completed over 70 projects that ranged from house foundation repair/underpinnning, new home construction, site grading, retaining wall construction, slope repairs, and creek repairs. Tasks included site evaluations, subsurface exploration, development of repair plans, permit acquisition, and construction. I also provided expert witness testimony as both a licensed engineer and general contractor.

During my first tour at Cal Engineering & Geology, I was located out of the main office in Walnut Creek and evolved to a senior level position. My responsibilites primarily consisted of soils investigations for single family residences and forensic engineering services, and support for expert witness testimony.

Rogers/Pacific was my first employer upon graduation from the University of California. As a staff engineer I gained experience working in a soils laboratory, performed subsurface explorations, and conducted numerous distress analyses of single family homes. I also was dispatched to the San Fernando Valley to perform post-earthquake distress evaluations following the 1994 Northridge earthquake.
