• Managing the day to day Human Resources /Employee Relations activities • I developed a performance score card for Supervisors/ Foreman which was implemented with effect from 01 June 2010.• Developed a process for engaging with organised labour to optimise the participative structures and to enhance effective meeting protocol and to build relations.• I chair the business unit meetings engagement with organised labour on a monthly basis or ad hoc when the need arise for labor to engage management.• Advise management on potential HR/ER risks to the business• Since my appointment I have identified the high number of absenteeism in the work place and initiated the fit for work assessments to address the high rate of absenteeism to manage the Frequency Absenteeism Rate.• I have investigated the abuse sick leave; the submission fraudulent sick notes and initiated disciplinary proceeding in this regard.• Consulted with medical practitioners in respect of providing sick notes for minor ailments and providing sick notes whereas they are not recognized in terms of the Seifsa agreement.• I initiated the incapacity investigating process since my appointment where employees are not able to perform their normal outputs as per the employment contract or was impaired.• I represent my division as a management representative on negotiations with organised labour.• I have successfully represented my division at Bargaining Council in terms of dispute resolution, conciliation and arbitration.• My success rate to date is 100% percent at present • I am responsible and accountable for provding HR services at a second Divison Flather Bright Steel and chair the monthly meetings between Management and the Trade Union at Flather Bright Steel.• I Identified weaknessess in the IR Disciplinary process involving line managers and foreman.I have developed training material for chair persons and case presenters and trained managers in managing disciplinary procedures.
