I am a Senior State and Local Tax (SALT) Manager serving clients in a regional accounting and business advisory firm. I work directly with clients of all sizes (local businesses to multi-state operations) to reduce their tax exposure and maintain their compliance.I provide clients with a full range of tax planning, consulting, and compliance services. I also collaborate with and lead teams to deliver the best service for our clients on complex and high-volume matters. I counsel clients through multi-disciplinary, multi-state reviews to identify optimal filing options. I also use my knowledge in these changing regulations to coach and develop people on my team to facilitate their success.My role as senior tax manager is to own the compliance of our clients, respond to audits, and support colleagues. I do this with a passion for solving problems and ability to adapt to changing priorities to meet the needs of the people we serve. As a result, I am actively engaged in the firm’s business development and continuous improvement initiatives.I recently played a key role in the launch of an internal teams channel for our group to increase engagement with other departments to facilitate the delivery of services to all of our clients. This channel received an average of 400 internal views daily and was instrumental in increasing the awareness of our colleague’s ability to communicate the value of our services to all of the firm’s clients. I was promoted to SALT Manager to lead multiple client engagements and the team that served them. I managed and supervised the sales tax reporting process, including the filing of returns and compliance for clients. This included running the client engagements from start to finish. I did this in partnership with clients, analysts, and our technology.I ensured compliance with State and Local Taxes by constantly learning. I also sought out ways to engage clients in the changes by providing updates on the evolving regulatory requirements. I did this across a number of highly complex, technical tax matters by distilling the key information for clients. During this time, I was a senior associate for the accounting and consulting firm serving clients nationally. I served a variety of clients during this time in partnership with the senior leaders. I also researched and consulted with clients on a variety of tax matters. I was continuously learning during this time and sought out opportunities to leverage that knowledge to better serve our clients. My commitment to building effective relationships with clients drove my success in the position.My role during this time also included planning, executing, preparing returns, and leading the state tax return process for clients. In each case, I applied my depth of technical knowledge and business acumen to better serve our clients. We found ethical ways to reduce client’s tax exposure through the thorough analysis of their data, knowledge of the regulatory requirements, and comprehensive insights gained from serving a variety of industries.

I applied the experience that I gained from working on the client side to help the engagement team deliver quality service to the firm’s clients.I worked with the leaders on special projects during this time. I researched a variety of tax issues and helped to draft the responses to the tax authorities on behalf of clients. I also participated in a variety of initiatives to support the firm’s growth and our engagement with clients. My success in this position led to my promotion to Senior Associate.
