I lead a small group of high performing regulatory case managers to manage grid modernization-related regulatory proceedings and develop grid-related policies to implement the SCE's strategic vision of transitioning to a clean power system that provides safe, reliable power to the communities we serve.Key proceedings managed by my team include: Distributed Resources Planning (DRP), Integrated Distributed Energy Resources (IDER), Microgrids, Electric Program Investment Charge (EPIC), Smart Grid Planning, physical grid security, and grid-related aspects of the CEC’s Integrated Energy Policy Report (IEPR).

The Integrated System Strategy team manages all aspects of SCE's long-term strategy for the power grid. In this role, I led project teams to develop system strategies that will guide planning and execution of Transmission & Distribution grid work, including the following: • Led project team to develop "Risk Spend Efficiency" metrics for SCE's wildfire mitigation initiatives, to develop a balanced portfolio of activities, justify investments, and prioritize spending.• Led system-wide analysis of grid investment opportunities to strengthen the power grid and reduce the frequency and duration of "Public Safety Power Shutoffs," i.e., intentional power outages during periods of extreme wildfire risk. Identified high-priority investments and gained approval for accelerated deployment of key projects.• Led development of new Long Term Strategy component of SCE's Wildfire Mitigation Plan, outlining 10-year goals and associated plans to develop new capabilities across the enterprise, including traditional grid investments, vegetation management to reduce wildfire risk, infrastructure inspections, and integrating emerging technologies for situational awareness and data analysis.

The DSO team was a new organization at SCE tasked with developing a long-term outlook on the “Distribution System Operator” of the future, focusing on how Distributed Energy Resources will be integrated into SCE's future business strategies. I helped develop a vision and road map for the distribution grid 10 years from now, focusing on long-term objectives and new capabilities.• Created new “market evolution framework” analyzing potential pathways for how distributed energy resources could transact services in emerging and future power markets. • Developed new feasibility analysis framework for “multiple-use” energy storage resources, analyzing when resources could potentially provide benefits to the bulk power system while simultaneously supporting the local distribution grid.

I managed SCE's activities for various CPUC regulatory proceedings: developed policy positions and engagement strategy; managed development of all formal filings and informal presentations; represented SCE at CPUC and industry events.• Distribution Resources Plan proceeding: Led development of innovative proposal to incorporate locational values into CPUC's cost-effectiveness calculator. Achieved favorable CPUC Decisions approving all of SCE's DRP demonstration projects. On behalf of SCE, PG&E, and SDG&E, managed two DRP working groups, managing the development of about 30 joint utility presentation about 40 joint utility written submissions.• Energy Storage proceeding: Achieved favorable CPUC Decision adopting SCE's preferred rules to enable "multiple use applications," allowing a storage device to provide services to both the distribution grid and the wholesale market. Developed innovated proposal to enable customer storage devices to have direct participation in the wholesale market. Achieved favorable CPUC Decision providing new flexibility provisions to reduce storage procurement costs.

I led the team with overall accountability for regulatory engagement, regulatory strategy, and case management for all matters relating to Demand Response, Distributed Generation programs, and Marketing & Outreach for GHG and Demand Side Management programs. • Achieved favorable CPUC Decision adopting SCE’s proposal for expanded utilization of SCE's largest residential Demand Response program.• Developed regulatory strategy for proceeding considering new customer programs in disadvantaged communities; gained external support for key SCE positions.• Directly managed team of three Project Managers.

Led team with overall accountability for regulatory engagement, regulatory strategy, and case management of Energy Efficiency (EE) and Income Qualified Programs.• Led strategic project to develop EE regulatory strategy and policy objectives ultimately adopted by Senior Management.• Achieved favorable Decision in Energy Efficiency Proceeding adopting SCE's desired EE funding and key SCE policy positions.• Directly managed team of four Project Managers and two Analysts.

• Achieved favorable CPUC Decision on Energy Storage adopting key SCE policy positions on utility ownership, equitable cost allocation, confidentiality, and eligibility. Presented at numerous CPUC forums.• Led project to analyze power system need for more flexible generation services and the ability of SCE's generation fleet to offer such flexible generation output, developed new price forecast based on increasing demand of flexible generation services.• Directly managed two analysts.• Promoted to Senior Advisor, Dec. 2010.

Researched and analyzed emerging climate policy issues; developed findings and recommendations for consideration by the Committee Chair.

• Performed public policy research and analysis on market-oriented environmental policies.• Projects: Assessing the benefits and potential issues of linking greenhouse gas reduction policies in Canada and the United States; analyzing standards for carbon offset programs in developing countries; reviewing state, federal, and international water quality trading policies.

• Designed and developed Real Estate Database, including cost and capacity analyses with forecasting models. • Consolidated vendor accounts and improved terms to save approximately $100K per year in operating expenses. • Created and developed New Office Guide for lease, furniture and equipment procurement.

Managed general operations for 150+ person office. Designed and implemented Inventory Database to track location and quantity of branded merchandise and files. Managed office expansions and moves as office doubled in size.
