As part of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), I work directly and intensively with a small caseload of specifically identified families who are struggling with the complex behaviour of their teenage son/daughter in relation, for example, to anti-social/criminal behaviour, school attendance/exclusion and verbal and physical aggression. The main aims of the intervention is to enable young person to: remain at home with their family; re-engage in an educational or vocation placement; avoid offending behaviour; and engage in pro-social activities. Moreover, MST seeks to increase the family's ability to manage independently and reduce families involvement with multiple and costly services. MST is an evidenced-based practice of family and home based treatment based on the philosophy that the most effective and ethical route to help children and youth is through helping their families and striving to change how youth function at home, at school, and in the neighbourhood. Working with adult offenders, assessing, supervising and managing those serving non-custodial sentences and those released from prison on licence.The role involves:- Direct work with offenders utilising a range of counselling skills- Dealing with a diverse range of complex needs including child protection, addiction, homelessness, family breakdown, mental health issues and domestic violence - Preparing pre-sentence reports for court- Carrying out risk assessments, utilising OASys- Interviewing offenders- Helping offenders access work, training and housing- Helping offenders to reintegrate back into the community- Keeping case records- Attending multi-agency meetings and working closely with partners, e.g. Police, Community Mental Health, Prisons and Children's Services
