Logistics/Supply Chain-10 yrs. Experience. I was a small group leader of 5 security officers. For 10 years, I did scheduling, payroll, and training. We inspected tractor trailer's that were to be loaded with frozen food. We verified the bills of lading on incoming and outgoing loads. We gave directions and were providing loss prevention. We responded to emergencies, wrote incident reports and provided security at a frozen food warehouse for Nestle foods.

I started in 1980, when I met Chuck Patten, my mentor, who was in the U.S. Secret Service, protecting Presidents Nixon, Ford, and Carter. Chuck was on the Permanent Presidential Detail, assigned to the Cleveland Office. I worked in Cuyahoga Co. Geauga Co., Stark Co. Portage Co., Summit Co., and Medina Co. I met my mentor, Chuck Patten,(Charles Royce Patten) and his brother, Bill, who eventually moved to Arizona, then to Chicago as a Psychologist. Shortly after he had been the Police Chief of Munroe Falls, Ohio. Chuck set up a contract security company that he called Royce Security in Cuyahoga Falls, on Portage Trail. He called it Royce Security. which was after his middle name. His business model was to break away from the old stereotype security officer image. Chuck was not the only one with a similar business model. Sentinel Security, in Cuyahoga Falls, on Chestnut Blvd. had the same business model. A former Summit County Deputy started this contract security company in the early 80's. His uniforms were similar to Royce Security, at the time. Chuck had more business contacts than him. He hired young people and for his standard uniform, he purchased the same uniforms that the Minnesota State Police wore. Each felt hat cost $60.00, which was big money back then. His patch was the grill of a Rolls Royce. Royce Security had many of the main security accounts in Akron and Cleveland. It was a very successful business. We trained Brian Whitaker. His first night in the security business, Chuck put him with me and I trained him at College Towers in Kent Ohio. Brian was serious about the security business and obtained a masters degree in business from Baldwin-Wallace College. Brian, eventually became the vice president of Royce Security. Eventually, Chuck sold the business to Joe Conley, who has done very well with the company. Brian started Atlantis Security. Brian was successful in the business. He retired in Florida, at a young age. Kevin Jaite was Brian's business partner. When Atlantis Security was eventually dissolved, after the unexpected and untimely death of Brian Whitaker. Kevin Jaite set up his own security business that he calls J8 Security. Show less
