About Dave Combs

I'm a long-time user-interface developer, having done everything from pre-object-oriented UIs for the Stanford Medical Informatics group in the 1980's to web-based management+monitoring tools for Kaazing Corporation and cyber-insurance application front ends for Symantec in the 2010's. I've built thick clients (primarily Java-based) and various web-based thin clients, on everything from custom application servers (BroadVision) to standard app servers (Tomcat and JBoss at various places) to non-app-servers (Kaazing WebSockets). I've pretty much always worked with enterprise applications, and am a 20+-year veteran of a number of startups, including engineer #2 at what became Edge Dynamics.I'm interested in both startup-sized companies, as they provide the most opportunity for a single person to affect the company's direction, and larger companies, which provide more stability.

Created the template model for a browser-based dynamic questionnaire and rebuilt/reorganized the REST API to the CI Java-based backend. Also created an expression language (similar to Excel) to provide template authors functionality to control entering and editing question and template values.
