In 1972, Culver was hired by WXXI-TV/FM as a camera operator, cinematographer, and eventually a Producer/Director, working on both local and network (PBS) productions.He then moved to commercial television, first as a news film cinematographer for WROC-TV and NBC/Network Program Service.Later, Culver became the Senior Producer/Director for the 6 & 11 newscasts at WROC-TV, followed by 2 years as Program Manager at that same station.Culver joined Westinghouse Broadcastin, first at KYW-TV in Philadelphia, with part time assignments at WBZ-TV in Boston and KPIX in San Francisco, producing television commercials and developing marketing plans for both outside clients and the stations.Mr. Culver was then transferred to Group W Satellite Communications where he was involved in the design, marketing, and on-air look development of a number of cable networks, including The Disney Channel, Arts & Entertainment, The Satellite News Channel (a co-production with ABC, now part of CNN), The Nashville Network, and a number of regional sports networks.Culver returned to Philadelphia to become Vice President and General Manager of Center City Film & Video, Philadelphia's largest production and post production facility for almost 10 years. During this period of time, he also taught acting at The Walnut Street Theater.Culver next joined local Philadelphia advertising agency Gillespie/Norton as Creative Director, and then formed his own Television, Radio, and Music production company TV Works which remains in operation today.Culver joined Drexel University as an adjunct instructor in 2000, and then was hired as General Manager of DUTV and The Paul F. Harron Studios, a position he now holds along with his duties as a full time undergraduate and graduate instructor in the AWCOMAD Film & Video department.Mr. Culver is a licensed instrument rated private pilot in single and multi-engine aircraft, and is an active Advanced class amateur radio operator.
