These include the following, ground water and surface water management, testing and reporting. The operation of the Industrial landfills including the surface water and leachate management. Waste product and hazardous waste management. Spill response and remediation. Responsible for the overall operation of the effluent treatment centre including cost control, safety management, employee training and qualifications, the purchase, supply and control of materials, maintenance, outside lab analysis, and data collection. Responsible for the operation, data collection, reporting and maintenance of two ambient air stations.Complete all environmental regulatory reporting as required by legislation both Provincial and Federal to all applicable departments. Manage all new permits and renewals as needed. Provide reports, studies and inspections as required by the facilities Industrial Approval.Receive all environment complaints from the community and respond. Lead the Community Liaison Committee.Supervise day to day operations in the testing lab including the supervision and organization of work for Lab Technicians and the quality tests for operations and environmental requirements.After much improvements in environmental performance and hard work with the local environmental groups , In June 2010 we signed a second agreement with the Environmental Stewardship Agreement with the Pictou Harbour Environmental Protection Project. -

In addition to leading the safety program I had responsibility for 15 security personnel, two plant protection employees and act as ERT Chief to 45 emergency responders. The safety program included all the elements of an ISO 18000 program. I chaired the Joint Occupational Safety Committee, conducted investigations, lead training courses, work place safety orientations, hazard inspections and managed contractor safety, etc. During the annual maintenance shutdown the number of employees would increase to near 500 and the number of contractors would be approximately 1200 persons. In 2005 my facility won the Pulp and Paper Canada Safest Mill in Canada Contest. -

The Maritime link Project is a landmark project that connect the power distribution grids of NFLD and NS by way of a sub sea cable across the strait. At the Woodbine site in NS, ABB is constructing a HVDC converter station and upgrades to the exsisting switch yard/substation. This project will give Nova Scotians access to the clean energy that will be generated at Muskrat Falls.

I also acted as the assistant to the Woodyard Superintendent in an operations role responsible for key performance indicators of the department and its 136 employees. The Woodyard was responsible for a fleet of tug boats to haul logs for various locations in New Brunswick and Quebec and a railway to move paper products to the wharf and raw products from the CNR siding to the mill. The Woodyard was responsible for all crane and mobile equipment services at the site.
