The Co-Operative Head Office - Manchester

Responsible for the delivery of key business change projects throughout the distribution estate. A central role involving liaison with various stakeholders throughout the business. Highly involved in the Lidia change programme and the planning and design of the networks new composite distribution centres. Key Responsibilities- Lead cross functional project team members to scope, design and implement new and business change projects to The Co-operative’s distribution network and 8 composite distribution centre’s- Manage the implementation of projects with the operational teams to include managing change and influencing key stakeholders- Lead and co-ordinate a team of project managers and analysts to deliver the network change programme for the central Logistics function - Manage the implementation of business projects to steady state enabling the sites to become ‘self sufficient’.Key Achievements- Delivered full pick by line solution to The Co-operative’s new composite distribution centres in Andover, Cardinal and Birtley to time and to budget with no service disruption- PBL introduction currently returning a 10% cost reduction over previous PBS method- Involvement in the warehouse design and build phases of the new composite distribution centres in Avonmouth and Castlewood

Iceland Distribution Centre - Warrington

Full operational responsibility for the fully composite site located in Warrington. A high customer facing role, this role involved daily communications and management of the account with the customer.Key Responsibilities- Lead a site team of c.550 colleagues across a 24/7 operation (c.38 Managers, c.500 warehouse operatives and support staff)- Manage and lead the team in the delivery of c.800,000 cases per week across a multi temperature 400k sq ft site to c.350 stores covering the North West, North East, Midlands and Wales- Managed an ‘Open Book’ account with an operating budget of £20.0m for 2009/2010 - Managed the customer relationship and hosting of periodic commercial reviewsKey Achievements- Delivered c.£50k per month to DHL account via open book share scheme on key variable open book lines through budget achievement- Service levels over achieved for DOT (averaging 99.5% vs contractual 98%) continuously for 10 months running- Achieved a best in class pick accuracy figure of 0.5% error rate with a manual picking system in situe- Lead the network CSR (Corporate, Social, Responsibility) programme for 2009/2010 to deliver community support and raise money for the local communities in Warrington, Livingston, Swindon and Enfield – highly commended at the DHL CSR event in 2010

Sainsburys Distribution Centre - Stoke-On-Trent

Full operational responsibility for the fully automated ambient site located in Stoke-on-Trent. The role involved full management of the logistics operation, budget control and people management - aiming to achieve a best in class service. In addition, I undertook a 6 month secondment managing the transport operation through the peak trading period to include all elements of managing a fast paced transport environment.Key Responsibilities- Lead the site team of c.1100 colleagues across a 24/7 operation (c.50 Managers, c.1000 warehouse operatives and support)- Managed and lead the team in the delivery of c.2.0 million cases per week from a fully automated 550k sq ft ambient site to c.400 stores covering Scotland, North of England, Midlands and Wales- Managed an ‘Open Book’ account with an annual operating budget of £50.0m- Full operational responsibility and leadership for the warehouse operation and all subsequent support functions to include warehouse planning, health and safety and engineering- Lead the site transport team of c.140 colleagues through peak period during a 6 month secondment to transport – to include full operational management, fleet management, VMU, transport planning, budget control and KPI management (20 Managers, 100 Drivers, 10 Transport Planners etc)- Managed the customer relationship and hosting of periodic commercial reviews.Key Achievements- Operational budget and contractual performance achieved in successive years with cost savings of c.100-150k per period- OWR achieved and improved throughout time in role from 65 OWR to 70 OWR on leaving the role- Lead the site to achieve Retail Service Centre Accreditation from Sainsbury’s in 2008 – RSC Accreditation given to depots with outstanding service levels and customer feedback- Management of the site H&S policy and record achieving the IOSSH Bronze Accreditation in 2006, Silver in 2007 and Gold in 2008- Selected for DHL’s talent academy programme in 2007.

Sainsburys Distribution Centre - Stoke-On-Trent

Member of the site senior team at Sainsbury’s new automated facility located at Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire.Key Responsibilities- Lead and managed the successful start-up of Sainsbury’s automated facility at Stoke-On-Trent- Managed the implementation of the sites main automation system WCS from build to start-up to steady state- Lead the site technical team of c.20 managers and colleagues to project manage the set up strategy and align the operational team with the WCS functionality to achieve go live to time - Fully responsible for site strategy and driving operational efficiencies via lean working practices- Assisted the start up with project management support for the operational go live at O’Neill’s automated distribution facility in Brussels, BelgiumKey Achievements- Delivered the site start up to achieve plan – to include the testing, training and integration of c.21 different IT systems- Delivered improved pick availability figures from the automated picking area of 58% to 65% leading to a significant increase in site output and performance – improved OWR and cost- Implemented a continuous improvement ethos at site using an OWR dashboard to build site knowledge and expertise to drive performance, hours/cost control and OWR performance- Selected by DHL to assist with the start up of O’Neill’s automated facility in Brussels, Belgium

The Big Food Group - Deeside

Member of the central group development team providing project management support to the Big Food Group’s distribution network covering both Iceland and Booker distribution centre’s.Key Responsibilities- Lead and project managed the ‘Warehouse Configuration’ project to return improved pick performance and efficiencies from the warehouse operation- Managed project implementation with the site teams to optimize each of the group’s distribution centres- Utilised specialist software packages Exceed Optimise and Class to model the warehouse operations prior to implementing changeKey Achievements- Average productivity increases achieved of c.5% via the re-lay of control of product layout at each of the sites completed

Oracle Implementation ProjectI was approached to lead the second stage of the Oracle implementation at ICL's sister site in Stevenage, Herts. This was full project management from introducing the project to managing change within a difficult environement. The project was implemented on time and to budget.

I was approached to take on the role of Returns manager within ICL's distribution centre. Within the role I was responsible for all elements of the role inc the operational running of the department to budget management and improving the company returns rate. I had direct responsibility for 10 returns engineers and managed to improve the returns rate substantially within my time in the role, for this achievement I was awarded a fully expensed trip to Dubai.

Oracle Implementation (COMET) ProjectI was a member of the project team that designed and implemented a bespoke warehouse management system to compliment the new build distribution centre in Warrington. As part of this role I had to lead a cross-functional group of managers and operational users and steer them through the change and introduce the new system. Ultimately the project was successful and was achieved on time and to budget.
