A biotechnology company specializing in molecular diagnostic platforms• Managed all functions related to the mechanical design of an automated DNA analyzer completing design and working prototypes in less than one year • Worked closely with the assay team to develop an injection molded, low cost consumable cartridge with assembly automation in mind to reduce assembly labor. All designs were done using SolidWorks and AutoCAD• Collaborated with microbiology scientists and assay teams to develop Micro-fluidic test chambers that were injection molded to reduce time and cost per experiment• Worked closely with suppliers to reduce mold costs by 30% and piece parts by 20%• Worked with injection molder to incorporate ultrasonic welding processes to improve bond quality and reduce labor costs by 15%• Responsible for the transfer of these products into production• Managed manufacturing, purchasing, logistics and facilities• Collaborated with the quality team to create the QMS system to achieve ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 certification• Managed supplier selection locally, out of state and offshore
