I am the sole owner and operator of Fun Science Cheltenham, a STEM edutainment firm offering award-winning events to schools, youth groups and private clients. I deliver engaging science-themed content to children aged between 4 and 11 in the context of parties, classes, workshops, clubs and conferences.I have twice appeared on the Apollo Stage at Cheltenham Science Festival (2021 and 2022), conducting exciting demonstrations and interactive workshops to crowds of more than a hundred adults and children.When not delivering eye-opening STEM content, I have sole responsibility for every aspect of running this rapidly growing Gloucestershire business - from recruitment to payroll and marketing to accounting.

I was the Sheffield project manager for Bags of Taste: an award-winning not-for-profit company fighting food poverty, social isolation and modern malnutrition through free budget cookery courses.I was responsible for all aspects of Sheffield operations including media relations, logistics, volunteer and participant recruitment, class delivery, evaluation and accounting.This was a project management role which required me to motivate a range of stakeholders, from participants and volunteers to health service and local government executives, through specialised communication via a range of channels including social media marketing and conference presentations.

Thrifty’s Portrait Parlour offered retro portrait, wedding and event photography, producing beautiful keepsakes with 1930s style. Rooted in the British swing dancing scene I also provided services to wartime events, rockabilly nights and vintage car rallies.

I was the founder, lead organiser and teacher at Upbeat Swing Dance Swing Dance. Starting as a not-for-profit community group called RotherHop, we followed in dance pioneer Frankie Manning's footsteps, teaching the "happy dance" that is Lindy Hop.Upbeat enhanced access to health and the arts in Rotherham, as well as contributing to charity through fundraising dance events. The organisation was regularly contracted by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council to appear at major public events including Rotherham Show and Rotherham Vintage Hop.It became a successful commercial venture operating from two venues in Rotherham and Barnsley, teaching around 50 students each week. It also organised the monthly Soho Swing-Out: a mid-century dance event attracting dozens of swing dancers, jivers and rock 'n' rollers to central Barnsley each month.

I had sole responsibility for filling the entertainments pages across three weekly newspaper titles, online and on social media. I coordinated theatre reviews, photo opportunities, celebrity interviews and more, filling eight or more pages with arts and culture content each week. I successfully performed these duties on top of my other general news and health news commitments.

I shared responsibility for a wide variety of news and feature content across three weekly print titles and a website. Though I focused mainly on the health and arts beats, I often worked on crime, courts, family, social injustice, politics and charity stories.My work demanded excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to meet frequent deadlines and a flair for making and maintaining professional relationships with contacts and sources.I broke national news stories and was committed to offering and executing original ideas to improve our audience's experience of our products.I led on community-focused campaigns #MyRotherham and Class Action, the second of which helped to secure more mental health support from Government for Rotherham schools.I also wrote, recorded and produced online news preview show Sneak Peek. This updated our web presence, drew together news and social media content to attract younger readers and encouraged occasional readers to buy more often. It was well-received both within and outside the company (see Honors & Awards), before company restructuring forced me to mothball the project.

This was a fixed-term contract covering an absence of the station's regular traffic and travel reporter. I digested traffic data from digital and telephone sources into 20 second scripts, which were read live by a senior Key 103 reporter.I also compiled, scripted and recorded half-hourly bulletins to be broadcast on Key 103's sister stations Magic 999 and Magic 1152. Strong time management and an expert radio voice were essential.
