Senior Software EngineerAcra Control Ltd Jun 1998 - 2001Senior Software Engineer▪ Recruited as part of a six person core software team responsible for architecting a scalable, professional software infrastructure to enable large scale deployment of the series two ACRA product.▪ Firsthand experience in all aspects of setting up a flight test at Alenia Aerospazio Turin (now trading as Leonardo-Finmeccanica). Took requirements from flight test engineers, ground station specialists and flight test instrumentation engineers and was the interface with engineering team back in Dublin. Successfully developed code to generate the configuration files capturing over 2000 parameters from the customer’s Oracle databases via SQL. Further developed ACRA core code to ensure that required measured data was captured on the successful first flight and throughout the campaign. Interfaced with the hardware and software development team back in Dublin. The work done at this site became a template for major customer deployments on 5 flight test ranges across Europe.▪ Architected and developed a flexible, extensible text based language that became an open standard for data exchange within our customer base (as well as widely used in house). It was used to completely describe the flight test system enabling efficient remote support and facilitating the transfer of large volumes of configuration data from customer data bases to the equipment. The architecture included the glue between the high level expression and the low level hardware drivers and schedulers. The design stood the test of time and is still used today a large portion of the customer base. Developed on C++.
