Hi there!For many years I’ve lived the life of leisure and contemplation known only to journalists, authors of fiction, and multimedia copywriters. Currently, I’m carving out my living in Southeast Portland since emigrating from a weather-wracked village on Scotland's Pentland Firth. Known for excellent surfing, my hometown also claims the mainland UK’s northernmost rail terminus and the world’s first fast-breeder nuclear reactor. Compelling reasons to stay but my folks opted for Aloha, Oregon, where I spent my formative years.Despite my undying love of the Beaver State, I’ve traveled all over North America. And my extended sojourns have found me building snowboard parks and ploughing parking lots in western New York, dodging tornadoes and restoring farmhouses in the Flint Hills of NE Kansas, and fixing chairlifts and driving semi-trucks, with Mt. Hood as my base. These days I amuse myself by restoring International Harvester Pickups, snowboarding, skateboarding, riding bikes and otherwise rambling around the Northwest’s myriad landscapes.Unfortunately, life isn’t a continuous indulgence in wilderness and wanderlust. And in that vein, I’ve spent the last decade as a writer of television, radio, video, social, print, and digital copy for globally renowned lifestyle brands. My ad-writing aside, I’ve placed journalistic work with Willamette Week, Mercury, Oregonian, and Bull, while my short fiction appears in Buckman Journal and Foulweather. Additionally, I’ve dabbled in everything from grants and band bios, to obituaries, product reviews, and dispatches for print and online outdoor guides. I’m also an accomplished account manager, truck driver of over two million all-weather miles, meticulous carpenter, passable logger, and abysmal bartender.On the topic of labor, I bring a sense of humor to everything I take on, which is informed by my blue-collar ethics, appreciation for teamwork, and fearless approach to the possibility of failure.
