Responsible for national contract management of vehicle hire, fork lifts, sweepers and tyre contracts through effective contract management plans and the development and implementation of KPI's. Responsible for the development and implementation of vehicle maintenance policies and their implementation through external contract maintenance and the Regional Fleet Management structure. To develop and implement an effective and efficient fleet management structure able to adapt to local circumstances whilst achieving corporate objectives. To develop and implement a vendor management system to ensure cost effective service and repairs on whole of life cost basis within rigorous commercial agreements. To support the Regional Fleet Managers in the development of asset replacement plans for vehicles and trailers including; utilisation, end user specifications, optimising vehicle numbers and profile, maintenance arrangements, fuel consumption etc. Liaise with Manufacturers for technical updates and warranty claims etc.

Responsible for the efficient and cost effective management of the Sydney Water fleet consisting of 1350 vehicles. To develop and implement a centralised fleet management unit able to fulfil the organisations operational fleet requirements through the identification, development and delivery of output based vehicle specifications operated on optimum asset lives. To continually identify and develop opportunities for efficiency savings in fleet management operations, vehicle specifications and utilisation. To manage the principle supply contracts to agreed standards whilst developing contractual parameters. To develop key performance indicators to track and manage all facets of fleet management to achieve optimum efficiency across the range of activities including compliance to service schedules, ensuring all vehicles are registered on time, to identify and introduce energy and cost reductions etc.

Streets, Fleet & Transport Service Manager 2003 - 2007 Responsible for the vehicle acquisition, vehicle maintenance, contract hire arrangements and welfare transport services. To deliver and develop Transport and Fleet Services, providing direction and co-ordination to continually improve service delivery through innovative solutions. To ensure fit for purpose vehicles and equipment specified to meet customer's needs are supplied on a combination of quality and whole life cost. To minimise vehicle downtime through a combination of vehicle quality and providing the optimum maintenance regime and schedule through effective planning and workshop organisation. To provide a transport service for adult and child care services in addition to children with special educational needs. Full responsibility for P&L accounts and achievement of business objectives utilising critical success factors and key performance indicators.From December 2006, also responsible for Street Services and Parks Management. To ensure public satisfaction with their environment through the effective and efficient planning and deployment of resources within the regime of street cleaning, maintenance of open spaces and verges, public parks and bowling greens. Includes full use of enforcement to implement environmental legislation. From December 2005 to January 2007, also responsible for the organisations mail and courier service. To provide a cost effective and efficient internal mail sorting and delivery facility for a multi-sited organisation employing 10,000 staff. From November 2003 to October 2004, also responsible for Waste Recycling & Collection Services. To provide an efficient and reliable residual waste collection service whilst developing and implementing strategy for expanding the recycling facilities, also to plan and implement key recommendations from a fundamental service review.

Responsible for the key accounts contained within Amey Highways Asset Management. To co-ordinate all elements of the supply chain; lease vehicles, short-term hire vehicles, damage, repairs, insurance and fleet management. To formally liase with the on going contracts and negotiate new contracts. Responsible for profitability and increasing returns on turnover in excess of £10 million per annum. To ensure service delivery is carried out in line with the Service Level Agreement and develop it for continuous improvement. To play a pivotal role in mobilising new contracts as they arise. To collate, produce and respond to KPI data.

Responsible for the on-going effectiveness and continued growth of key logistics and vehicle hire accounts generating £10 million per annum. Responsible for the initialisation and operation of the contracts department, employing forty-two staff members. To ensure a minimum return on capital employed whilst ensuring all legislative and safety requirements are adhered to. To directly manage major contracts and oversee the performance of smaller contracts. Responsible for ensuring maximum residual value is realised from vehicle and plant sales, employing two full-time staff.

Responsible for a transport operational business unit, comprising of a seven figure revenue budget, twenty-four staff, up to one thousand fleet items ranging from hand held portable plant up to articulated Heavy Vehicles, six in-house workshops and thirteen contractors. Providing a vehicle maintenance and repair facility to ensure all vehicles are roadworthy, presentable, reliable and conform to current legislation. Workshop loading, planning and scheduling. Man-management, cost control and all Health and Safety conformity.
