As an engineer and woodworking hobbyist I enjoy exploring new materials and gaining an understanding of how new materials can enrich our lives while leaving less of an impact on the environment. Sustainable products must become part of our everyday lives so materials at end of life can be reclaimed and reused again and again in closed cycles. Engineering products with two dissimilar materials that are permanently bonded together dramatically decreases the value of the raw materials and adds to the municipal solid waste stream (375 Million Tons according to a 2010 EPA Report).The energy race will not be won by ultra-efficient HVAC systems. Most of the energy is lost due to poor R-values as well as gaps and holes in walls, ceilings and foundations. Homes must be made that eliminate thermal bridges, seal up the gaps and holes, significantly increase R-values while improving indoor air quality. There is a lot of opportunity out there in new home construction and refurbishment. It will take all of us to make this change happen and win the race...........Let’s Get Started!

I am currently managing the New Technology Platform for Liberty Hardware product development. In this assignment I am tasked to explore new materials, and methods of manufacture that provides a marketing advantage over existing products in our categories. This requires use of the Technology Development Stage Gate process as well as adaptation of a Technology Development Roadmap to track commercialization of these new methods. Technologies of interest will have been developed within the last ten years and in not yet in wide spread use generally and has not been adapted by any of our competitors.
Batteryless Wireless lighting control technology will change the way homes are wired for lighting in the very near future. As we learned more about the EnOcean technology we immediately realized the ramifications the technology presents in terms of the potential for energy savings, reduced material, reduced labor and complete freedom to control lighting. I have been providing the mechanical engineering function for Verve designing the housings and enclosures in ProEngineer as well as UL certification of product and performance verification testing for our new line of switches.Like the rest of the team at Verve Living Systems I am sorry to see the division sold. The technology and need are still valid. The United States must win the energy race and this technology, properly implemented, will go a long way to help individuals and companies do just that. I wish the purchaser the best and hope the efforts we spent in new product development are used globally......Godspeed!
Started as a junior engineer and developed into a senior engineer as the company grew ten fold over this same time frame. Approximately 20 patents awarded and pending the majority of which are utility patents. Liberty is a great place to work and I would highly recommend the company to any person seaking employment.
Served as Manufacturing Engineer for Plant 3 working on Healthcare and Executive lines. Enjoyed working out problems on the floor with the folks who performed the assembly functions. Great place to work and I would definally recommend.
