1978-83 Educational Consultant1983-89 Assistant Director1989-2007 Executive Director 2007-2011 Project Manager (retired in 2011)Educational technology changed tremendously during the latter part of the 20th century and the Southwestern Ohio Instructional Technology Association (headquartered at Miami University) was involved in many projects that impacted area schools. SOITA discount group purchasing of TVs, videocassette recorders, educational software and classroom computers amounted to over 60 million dollars during this time frame. Thousands of teachers participated in SOITA professional development activities including the highly regarded SOITA Educational Technology Conference, held annually from 1983 to 2013. In 1998, I led an effort to create a statewide educational technology conference. The first Ohio SchoolNet Technology Conference was held that year in conjunction with the SOITA Conference at the Dayton Convention Center. This statewide event is now known as the Ohio eTech Conference and is held annually at the Columbus Convention Center.I was pleased to work in collaboration with a number of regional, state and national groups over my career that facilitated learning in the classroom. Some of those groups included Ohio Educational Technology, Ohio Department of Education, Ohio SchoolNet, Ohio eTech, Apple Computer, the Minnesota Educational Computing Consortium (MECC), PBS Video, National Association of Educational Computing Organizations, the Dayton Area Superintendents Association and the Western Ohio Superintendents and Principals Roundtable. As an elementary school student, I watched educational programming at my school that was distributed via an airplane through the Midwest Program on Airborne Television Instruction (MPATI) and this sparked my interest in this career field.

Served as liasion for Ohio Educational Technology Agencies while Chairman of OETAs.

Supervised instructional media and initial development of the library, radio-TV department, federal and state grants, developmental reading department, school-wide curriculum development and North Central Association accreditation.

Taught American and World History at Piqua Central High School.
