CurrentDesign Engineer – Expended Core Facility Recapitalization ProjectDesign engineer responsible for conception and development of new equipment design for spent fuel container unloading. New equipment must a) interface with existing large scale equipment, b) comply with Naval Reactors requirements for shielding and contamination control, c) be cost effective, d) allow efficient and reliable operations, and e) be easily adapted for the processing of future fuel types. Resultant product is a robust, novel design leveraging creativity, thoughtfulness, and years of Program experience / principles.Project/Design/Test Engineer - Submarine Plant Tech. DevelopmentPrimarily responsible for logistics, equipment design, vendor sub-contracts, and procurement. Given a desired end result - generate concept, produce design, and execute construction of experimental test equipment related to mechanical fatigue or acoustics of piping systems. Facilitate acoustic and fatigue testing through the coordination of vendors, contractors, and internal regulatory (Safety, Environmental, QA, and Procurement) departments in order to meet test schedule and budget requirements. Create practical test fixture designs which yield safe and reliable equipment. Propose, defend, and implement design decisions / plans. Manage mid-sized test programs / projects from inception to final formal test documentation.
