Development Engineer – Military Engine Afterburner StabilityResponsible for the programming, calibration, and implementation of FORTRAN based afterburner stability models which predict afterburner performance throughout flight envelope. Worked independently on development of the code while delivering analyses (pre and post-test) to both internal and external customers. Evaluated engine and rig test data for model calibration purposes. Developed stability audit methodology and conducted stability audits to identify stability shortfalls. This included but was not limited to: providing pre-test predictions of engine performance during various transient maneuvers throughout flight envelope, comparing simulation predictions to actual engine data for the purpose of model calibration, recommending control logic schedule strategies to ensure stable engine operation, and requesting specific engine tests to facilitate model validation. Also evaluated engine data and analyzed test results. Served in a projects engineer capacity in pursuit of root cause of anomalous engine compressor behavior. This involved leading/conducting regular multi-level, multi-disciplinary meetings to generate and evaluate list of potential root causes. Worked with test engineers and outside suppliers to instrument engine such that items on root cause list could be evaluated. Reported to chief engineers regarding technical and funding issues.
