My fascination with computers began at the age of seven, searching for my brother among mazes of towering mainframes in the IBM center where my dad worked. Those computers seemed as huge as the Gargantuas in my favorite monster movie, and they were (almost) as alive. Our footsteps in those games of hide-and-seek were concealed by an electric hum that surrounded us; the hum of an invisible power that we understood was commanded by a secret language of hole punches and printed code. When I began coding myself, I didn’t get to punch holes in cards, but the mystery and the energy of those devices never diminished for me, even as their monstrous size shrank and their power expanded. Since then, my decades of work in the field have taken me on many adventures. I still love a good game of hide-and-seek, as evidenced by my years spent at Boeing preparing IT staff for Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) audits by Deloitte, where I was responsible for interviewing IT technical staff to document change/configuration management and security processes and controls. On my own initiative while working in the SOX program, I automated the loading and processing of program data, enabling SOX program management to analyze the data and produce metrics for leadership. Hired from that program into Boeing as a Level 4 analyst/developer, I designed and developed a website and database to track all security compliance status across Boeing, and to automate a monthly report for our CIO. Software development has helped me to produce the most value for my customers, but building relationships has been my favorite part of my work and has been the source of my success. I’ve learned so much from my longtime clients and colleagues, and they’ve helped me grow as a person. At the end of the day, computers are only tools to help people be effective executing more important work, and that is what I love to facilitate.Outside of my career, I’ve continued my exploration of new mazes courtesy of Seattle University, where I got my Masters in Software Engineering in 2012 and am scheduled to wrap up my Masters in Business Administration in June 2021. In my personal time I love to watch movies from Scarecrow video or the Criterion channel. And like most people in this pandemic, I am trying to learn to juggle and ride a unicycle.Specialties: C#, T-SQL, Database design, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, VBA, MS Access
