As our corporate Group SHE's Waste Management Global Lead, I have the responsibility for being protective of the lives and health of our employees, the environment and our assets. Group goals include the minimization and elimination of hazardous (chemical) and non-hazardous (general ) wastes to landfills and to continuously reduce the amount of general waste per employee, while increasing Roche's recycling rates and decreasing plastic waste generation. In addition, the Waste Management Global Lead will evaluate all waste streams using GAIA- and Enablon, develop alternatives, together with experts, audit waste vendors and develop and implement waste management guidance, policies, position/background papers, and directives. Being the Waste Management subject matter expert, I have and will continue to support our values of long-term cost savings, avoid any legal implications and associated costs, improve/maintain Roche's public image and be a leader in sustainability and remediation. I help to ensure compliance with all applicable rules and regulations relative to waste management.

1. Creation of SHE Handbook for multiple US affiliates. Lead SHE Aspects Initiative-creation of guidance documents for small sites and provided support to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state and federal regulations as well as internal directives/standards.2. Creation of E-Waste, Fire Suppression Waters, SWPPP and SPCC guidance documents.3. Waste vendor audits.4. Property loss control and audit checks of US affiliate sites.5. Remediation and environmental due diligence project support to limit environmental liabilities.6. Lead North American Environmental group initiative for digital repository for guidance documents, reference materials, FAQs, etc.7. Property Loss Control Team Support: Development of risk tables for fire protection.8. Created numerous documents including: Emergency Response Checklist, Fire Suppression Waters Guidance, Environmental Checklists, and reclaimed SW/GW reuse.9. Created/authored self-assessment tools for: Asphyxiating Gases, Carbon Monoxide/LEL Detection, Chemical Storage, Dust Control, Fire Proofing, Fire Protection, Grounding/Static Electricity, Lightning Protection, Pressure Safety, Security Vulnerability, Smoke Detection, Sprinkler Systems, SHE Officer Checklist/On-Boarding Questionnaire, Due Diligence, Site Closure Checklist, Waste Characterization for hazardous waste, and a Waste Vendor Questionnaire.10. PEG metrics reporting & support.11. Program manager for various remediation projects-provide technical support and regulatory/risk oversight of ongoing groundwater/soil IRM’s, CSM and CEA.12.
