The core distribution paths include multi-format linear stream and broadcast, OTT vod, and channelized social media platforms. We manage multiple linear-mirror and event-based streaming workflows from source to the CDN.The four HD studios in the building include a first-floor glass-wall location, two large 4-walls, and a small multi-cam “one-man-band” room. A set of robo cameras in the theatre can be integrated into any event as needed. Supporting the newsroom production server systems, newsgathering fleet management, physical building infrastructure challenges, and departmental budgeting constituted the remainder of my responsibilities. My work on CBS-2 Chicago’s new building and street-side news broadcast facility ran from the red iron framing stage (a substantial roof-top satellite dish farm) to occupancy and included systems engineering and operational design, purchasing, and coordination with architectural, mechanical and construction project management. I built an installation crew from scratch, designed the fiber/ip stl system, the graphics department news production workflows, and the LAN schema. Other projects included the rollout of computer editing in ENG trucks and the completion of the station/market Nextel digital microwave transition immediately following the move to the new facility. This was a gut and space recovery of retail space into the primary news studio for the market-leading tv station.
