A time served mechanical technical apprentice, with over forty years continuous professional experience in piping related positions, these positions have been predominately in the oil & gas industry, but I started life in the chemical plant piping design.I have worked in piping design office roles for over thirty years and on piping construction sites / roles for over ten years, including five years spent in actual offshore positions / roles. I have travelled extensively, having worked in Norway (twice), Alberta (twice), Brunei, Singapore, Western Australia (16 years) and finally northwest England, Aberdeen and London. My experience is equally balanced between onshore and offshore facilities, and although resent years I have been involved in green field projects, prior to 2006 I would have considered myself a brown field’s piping modifications expert. AREAS OF PARTICULAR EXPERTISE• Experienced in the management of medium size piping design teams, within a PDMS or PDS environment.• Front end engineering design for Brownfield piping modifications, including close liaison with operations and construction to ensure new facilities are brought online, limiting shutdown duration and limiting disruption to existing piping systems.• Development of FEED plot layouts for Greenfield Projects, including the arrangement of piping and equipment to produce a safe, practical, maintainable, feasible and economic facility layout.• Creating detailed scope of works for Brownfield piping modifications (to work pack & job card level)• Estimating engineering design & detail man hours for piping deliverables, creation & management of work breakdown structure / cost time resource estimates - CTRs / WBS.• Highly experienced with the fabrication and installation of exotic piping classes, non metallic piping and lined pipe work etc.• Highly experienced in the design of piping tie-in’s into existing plants, maximising none shutdown work scope, and minimising hot work.
