Transport Manager Tipton & Bristol – Customer based• Ensuring both fleet and driver compliance is maintained and in line with legal standards.• Promoting high levels of Health and safety of all employees with both Fowlerwelch employees and also the clients staff.• Attend monthly operational meetings with the client to ensure all aspects of their requirements are being fulfilled.• Conduct periodic reviews for staff (PDP’s) in line with business values giving them the best platform to achieve targets set. • Seek and pursue any potential commercial gains to the business.• Forecast peak times to ensure equipment, staff and training are in place for busiest periods.• Engage with colleagues to ensure best practice and facilitate ideas for improvement to the operation.

Planning various types of vehicles nationwide

The customer base is varied however some of out highest profile customers who I have dealt with include Sainsbury's, Mitchells and Butlers, The Co-Operative, Network Rail.* Maintaining internal relations up to Director level* Developing processes to improve the operation* Project management & Tenders* Disciplinary hearings / InvestigationsI was heavily involved with the financial aspects of the depot which has an annual turnover of £1.3 million, this includes producing a weekly profit/loss report analysing the results and identifying areas of improvement and putting these into practice.

The modes of vehicles varied from skip vehicles, dustcarts, tankers and curtain siders.* Producing driver rotas on a daily basis* Holiday Management* Customer liaison* Ensuring the vehicle maintenance programme was fully compliant * Cost control* Data input * Ensuring our monthly invoice reporting was correct I was promoted to Senior Dispatcher in Feb 2011 this was after the depot had gone through testing times we had four different managers in the space of two years and a high turnover of staff. I proved myself to be dedicated to the cause, I would be working excessive hours most days to make sure the depot kept operational.

Initially placed as a temp through an agency this position soon became full time as I proved my capabilities in difficult circumstances. The depot operated around 15 refrigerated artic vehicles at anyone time and 2 curtain siders operating on behalf of customers such as Tesco's /Wincanton's, Sainsburys, and Yearsley group. The duties I carried out during this time were supervising up to 20 drivers, routing the vehicles, dealing with customer bookings and queries, pricing jobs, obtaining back-loads, drivers holidays and ensuring all our customers stock was safe and secure in the warehouse.

My duties in this role consisted of driver supervision, routing between 30 - 40 vehicles on a daily basis, customer bookings, customer enquiries, weigh bridge duties, de-briefing drivers at the end of the shift. During this time the Birmingham depot spearheaded two major integrations this meant integrating staff and drivers from these companies into the Biffa way of working. I was nominated as a "depot buddy" which are people who were chosen due to their experience. "Depot buddies" would help with any questions or queries from the new members of staff. In my time at Biffa I also worked on detached duties in Milton Keynes, Bury St Edmunds, Leeds and Warwick. I gained a health and safety at work qualification and was also part of the health and safety committee.

I started as an office junior carrying our general office duties which included answering telephones, filing, dealing with invoice queries and photocopying. My role changed as I covered an absence in the traffic office and on proving myself capable of doing the job turned into a full time position. My duties included dealing with customer bookings and queries, driver supervision, driver's wages and vehicle routing.
