Developed and covered stories in the 11 counties surrounding Nueces, for daily reports on 3 news at 5, 6 and 10.Dave’s cherished stories and experiences are many, but one accomplishment closest to him is the opportunity he had to meet Selena for the first of many interviews in 1993, which made covering her tragic death even more personal to him. Although Dave’s high profile interviews with people like Selena, George W. Bush, Michael Jordan, Oscar de la Hoya, Donald Trump, Kobe Bryant , Jessie Jackson and Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton were satisfying, Dave says “the most satisfaction comes from interviewing ordinary people who have extraordinary stories to tell…and we all have a story to tell.” Dave joined the U.S. Marine Corps and began his broadcasting career with Armed Forces Television in Tokyo, Japan in 1984. Dave became a Sergeant in the Marine Corps before an honorable discharge in 1987, when he moved from Los Angeles, California to Corpus Christi, accepting a job offer from Col. Vann Kennedy at KZTV (CBS). Dave left KZTV in 1996 to anchor the 5:00pm news in the Rio Grande Valley, only to return to Corpus Christi in 2000 to work for KIIITV3.
