The '80s found me burnt out from a stab at the music business and all its glory in the '60s & '70s. I put my time in as an inspector for the Indiana Depart of Transportation, a fine job doing good work for decent people. It healed me from the rigors of the road and allowed me to place myself right back into the music business. Later I worked for a public library before moving to Califonia to do the same for the University of California.In the '90s I worked at Nashville, Tennessee's NBC television affiliate, WSMV as staff guitarist, performed and recorded with diverse artists from Chet Atkins to Wolfman Jack with the Grand Ol' Opry in between. As a writer for Vintage Guitar magazine, I had 8 full cover stories several more features. I also contributed articles to the Tennessean, Tribune Star and Star Journal newspapers.I'm presently co-writing a book with Tim Masters for Centerstream Publishing on musical instrument related inventor, Ray Butts. I'm presently co-writing a book with Tim Masters for Centerstream Publishing on musical instrument related inventor, Ray Butts. Mr. Butts developed products for Gretsch and Rickenbacker musical instrument companies as well as his own Echo Sonic amplifier, used by Chet Atkins, Scotty Moore (with Elvis Presley), Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins and other '50s entertainers.

Most of my work has been in music-related periodicals, writing interviews, articles and adverts. Some of my past clients include, Hofner Musical Instruments (for NAMM Show Edition of Billboard Magazine), Vintage Guitar Magazine; over a dozen cover stories, including Mike Bloomfield, Chet Atkins (3), Carl Perkins, Scotty Moore, James Burton, Elvis Presley, Duane & Gregg Allman, singing cowboy, Roy Rogers, Marty Stuart and several others. I have also written in Guitar Player magazine, Nashville, Tennessee's Banner newspaper, the Star News in Hendersonville, Tennessee and the Tribune Star in Terre Haute, Indiana. I have also written copy for various musical products and features on performers as one-off assignments. In the past I have assisted several authors in writing their books or articles. Some of these include, "Skydog" (Duane Allman bio) and "Buck 'Em", both by Randy Poe, VP of Leiber & Stoller Publishing. I have also contributed pictures and copy for several blogs and books on guitar including Russ Cochran's definitive book on Chet Atkins' instruments titled, "Me & My Guitars" and Edward Ball's "Gretsch 6120".

I opened the Nashville Office of Vintage Guitar magazine where I wrote articles, took photographs and phone calls for Music City's branch of Willie Moseley's Southern District Office.
