 Responsible for completion of all financial functions at the Bemidji, MN and Gwinn, MI Lumbermills. The functions included month-end closings, financial statements, operating/capital budgets, and all other accounting reports. Handle internal controls, SOX documentation and quarterly reviews, internal audits, and provide all information to external auditors. Supervise a senior accounting tech directly, and indirectly trained and lead three administration assistance/accountants. Completed the analysis work and presented to upper management several large capital projects. This included potential project savings, operating cost estimates, and sensitivity analysis.

Responsible for all financial operations of the Brainerd paper mill. This includes month end closing, monthly and quarterly reporting, operating budgets, weekly forecasts, and balance sheet review and control. Supervise a staff of two professionals in cost accounting and payroll/ general accounting. First controller at location. Responsible for set-up of all procedures, internal controls, management reports, cost accounting, and payroll with no oversight. Handle all SOX documentation and audits, internal audits, external audits and quarterly PBC information. Delta team (formal cost reduction initiative) lead for a year. Use AS 400 JDE general ledger software system on a daily basis.

Responsible for the preparation and variance explanations to upper management on monthly operating statistics and financial results. Responsible for the evaluation, product costing and profitability analysis of all division products. Coordinated and consolidated the annual division operating and Capital budgets for five panel mills. Performed the analysis of all potential product lines and production alternatives to maximize returns. Led the Authorization for Capital Expenditure process for determination of potential project savings, returns, etc. Perform capital project AFCE performance reviews. Responsible for preparation of midmonth forecasts for the panel mills. Was an effective liaison between Accounting Shared Serviced Organization and division management to ensure effective major organizational change. Provided input for the annual Assumptions and Strategies document. Including editing, publishing, and coordinating presentation of the final document. Helped identify key issues for division and plant managers, and assist in the development of meaningful strategies, tactics, and plans to address each. Served as the financial advisor to all division operating personnel regarding operational decisions.
