After fallen almost accidentally into top-level athletics in the mid 1980s I have continued to be embroiled in Sport at a variety of levels since my international career came to an end around 10 years later (dodgy knees, just in case you're interested). Having competed at the marathon in two Olympic Games for Great Britain I thought that Barcelona in 1992 was the end of all things Olympic. Fortunately this wasn't the case as Seb & his team nailed the 2012 Games for London and I spent 8 years using all the contacts I had ensuring that the city of Coventry squeezed as much out of having "the greatest show on earth" on their doorstep. This culminated with 12 Olympic Football matches taking place at what became "The City of Coventry Stadium" - A.K.A. The Ricoh Arena.I've found, however, that what works for sport works for businesses, individuals and any other type of organisation you'd like to name. That is, everyone needs help, support and expertise. To that end I get an enormous kick from putting people together and acting as the glue which means clients aren't left to guess who can help them when a sticking point is reached. Outside of sport my most enjoyable role was managing the 250 strong, global, City of Coventry Ambassadors Group whilst at Coventry Destination Marketing and City Centre management organisation CV One. Only by doing this did I realise the potential power of a group of individuals working together for a common cause.
