I have spent a long time in Contract Administration, through RAF Leuchars and the MOD in Edinburgh.I was responsible, in both instances, for contractors, and at Leuchars, for our direct labour.At Leuchars, I was part of a managerial team who handled the maintenance for all of the buildings, including the Airstrip, the ground lighting (AGL) and was personally responsible for all of the street lighting, and the execution of the H.V. maintenance regime.I was also in charge of the AGL electricians.At Dreghorn, I was responsible for the mechelec facility. I took responsibility for all of the boiler systems, after becoming CORGI registered, for Dreghorn, Redford and Glencorse barracks, as well as Edinburgh Castle.I have always been known for my ability to liase with customers and address their problems, and find that very useful in my present post.I have been educated by the MOD to understand ‘Value for Money’, and budgetary restraints, which again has been very useful in my present post.My computer skills are second to none, although I have not seriously used CAD for some time, but have every confidence that I could refresh my skills easily.QA and CDM are of second nature to me, and often present interesting problems to solve.I have been a manager, and gone ‘back to the tools’ and back to supervisory tasks, and pride myself on knowing both ends of my career to my advantage.I understand Corporate politics, and corporate attitude, as well as having ‘hands on’ experience of small private industry, and feel this gives me a useful insight in handling contractors by corporate means.I was responsible for Dundee city Health and safety maintenance contracts for the following contracts – Automatic doors,Lightning protection,Medical baths and hoists,Portable electrical appliances,Technical equipment Roller shutter doors, Electric and Hydraulic lifts (this is the largest contract, with a maintenance budget of app £1M over 5 years)
