Currently involved in website design and development and various other assignments for a Unique Advantage client, for the company itself and for Dave Macfie as an individual. Spending time also on honing skills in business advantage through the exploitation of Big Data and Analytics. Otherwise I manage all other aspects of the company.Also, for my own company Dave Macfie Stories, I have completed two books on Big Data, and a mystery thriller trilogy. All books are available on Amazon Kindle but distribution will be expanded in November 2016. In this capacity I am now working on a fantasy series of five books.

I started as an analyst programmer in Technical Applications for Gold mining then was promoted to project leader and then Project Manager of a large mine planning and control system. After that I became an Information Services Manager for 3 Gold Mines and, finally, I became Systems Manager with responsibility for development and maintenance of all computer systems for Anglo Gold.

Responsible for evaluation of hardware and software suppliers and tenders for the automation of the Iron and Steel Complex at Redcar, Teesside in the north-east of England.

Responsible for the investigation, specification, analysis, design, development and implementation of Process Control computer systems for Polymer Plants. Then participated in a two-man team, which designed, developed and implemented a process control operating system for DEC PDP 11 computers.
