Assigned to the EDMS Application Development Area as part of the Managed Maintenance contract for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). Primary responsibilities were as tech lead for the team, with primary development responsibilities in the asp and Visual Basic technologies and database administration. Primary point of contact support for the Safety and Crash EDMS systems, with secondary support roles for the Highway EDMS area. The Safety EDMS system is a search and retrieval system for Driver and Motor Vehicle documents, with sources ranging from mainframe generated content to vehicle documents sourced at dealerships, scanned through integrators and imported through custom software created/maintained by the EDMS area. The Crash system is a two-tiered architecture which encompasses scanning; electronic data capture (EDC), validation and image archival.Considered the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for EDMS Foundational portion of a redesign process for the Safety EDMS system. Responsible for identifying all environmental specifications, capabilities and requirements of existing system. Attended meetings with leadership of PennDOT and outside consulting firm for design of new solution. Responsible for review of/commentary on technical design documents created by assigned consulting firm. Designed and led a project to develop a cross-platform messaging application which allows our client/server area to provide information to our end users and to logically disable functionality via this messaging platform. Developed an xhtml compliant online message editor which makes heavy use of ajax, soap and rpc to create the messages without requiring the end user to develop html coding. The editing application is designed with ajax principles in mind where the application is not crippled when using a limited functional browser. Enhanced existing API functionality within our java framework to provide expanded functionality to our external partners.
