BrightSpec develops high-sensitivity instruments for spectroscopy at terahertz (THz) frequencies based on new approaches to light source design and detection made possible by advances in high-speed digital electronics and solid-state THz devices.Dave is a co-founder of BrightSpec and his focus is on sales, operations and technology development pertaining to algorithmic development, software and mechanical design. Before co-founding BrightSpec, Dave spent nearly a decade in key roles at various early stage technology companies across the following industries: medical devices, distributed power generation, finance, and web applications. Dave started his journey into large data sets and numerical methods as part of the Computational Group at UVa’s Center for Applied Biomechanics in graduate school. While Dave has extensive experience in virtual product design and optimization through computer-aided-engineering utilizing CAD, finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD), he has also served in experimental and manufacturing roles. This includes viscoelastic material characterizations used for vehicle crash worthiness design, as well as precision manufacturing and metrology work in a clean room environment for assembly of metal-ceramic alloys.
