About Dave Mcgrath
I am currently seconded onsite to CNR in Aberdeen for CAN Group as an Integrity Engineer where I hope to expand my knowledge and learn new Integrity Systems.Until recently I was working onsite at Versalis ENI in Grangemouth for CAN Group as an Assistant Inspection Engineer, where I learned alot doing more hands on work.I am working towards my ASME Level 2 certificate.I spent the last few years working as a Technical Assistant at Shell Mossmorran. 2018/2023, I tuped from CAN to Sonomatic to continue this role, before going back to CAN Group.Over that time, I gained experience, and developed a wide range of knowledge while working with a great team, and gained an ASME Level 1 certificate. With the events and changes that took place at Mossmorran over the time that I was there, I had the opportunity to be part of shutdowns and inspections, as well as the implementation and migration to new databases, such as WIMs & ONE Integrity. My role there expanded from my original job spec, due to restructuring, Therefore I have been able to gain even more experience by taking on tasks that would have previously been undertaken by those in other roles. I have a good understanding of SAP and Microsoft Office.Previously, I spent a few years working in a fab shop in Aberdeen, where I worked through several roles in a busy work environment, where l had the opportunity to learn and develop a good knowledge base of that side of the industry. At college, I studied HNC Fabrication, Welding, and Inspection & NC Fabrication Welding, after which I invested in myself obtained a few PCN Level 2 NDT certs as well as an Offshore Survival and Rope Access certification.I enjoy my job and working in this sector.I believe I have the right attitude and aptitude to be a great asset to any company.
Listed skills include Ndt, Welding, Metal Fabrication, Fire Safety, and 21 others.

Founder
My hobby of medieval reenactment led to the development of Reenactment Scotland. Having only being involved in the reenactment for only a short amount of time it botheerd me that some events were not very well advertised. For the smaller events, the footfall at the venues was only marginally more than weekends without something on. I kept saying there should be a page where all the reenactment events are listed so people can find and follow them. So after some time passed I just made it myself, beginning on Facebook. It quickly grew and with some cards printed off and a lot of cross-sharing it had an impact pretty quickly. By the second year, the big events had grown even bigger and the wee events had loads of familiar faces floating about. The organisers became more switched on to social media and had a lot more content for me to find, add and share.I set out my objectives: The groups should be the main focus, to lead people to them so that they could follow them and get involved in the hobby. My ethos was to promote the groups in an unbiased way. As I got so much out of the hobby myself, I was determined to see the hobby grow. The website is now on its 3rd reincarnation. First built just as a basic list of all the all events and groups I could find, it has now with some help has grown into a very cool looking page which we dedicate a lot of time to because we believe it to be a fantastic resource.Becoming a prominent member of the reenactment community has led me to appearing on a few TV shows, working with some fantastic crafts people and developmenting some hobby skills to a professional level.
