• Ownership and technical project management over the full lifecycle of many projects. 1995 to 1997: Working within the Software Development group. Duties covered:• Development of a portable Geographical Information System for the display and control of gas distribution network maps and data.• Graphical user interface development for a laser speckle pattern interferometer, used for non-destructive testing for material fractures.• Software & hardware development for a laser based in-pipe inspection device.1990 to 1995: Working within the Instrumentation and Metering section of the Controls and Instrumentation Division. Duties covered:• Performance, accuracy and reliability assessment of prototype intelligent gas flow meters.• The development of laboratory test rigs and analytical equipment. Including control, measurement and data acquisition system software, hardware and electronics aspects (pressure & temperature transducers; optical positional encoders; interfacing via analogue and digital I/O, RS232 and GPIB comms).• Detailed data analysis (MS Excel), developing further investigative and exploratory testing of flow meter behaviour.• Research into ultrasonic gas flow measurement technologies.
