For the past 12 years I've been working with communities across Rural Alaska to address the high cost of Energy in their communities, many of which see some of the highest energy costs in the country at over $1/kwh in electric costs and $9/gal in heating fuel. Through this position I've led the design, financing and implementation of large infrastructure projects across an area the size of Texas but with fewer navigable miles of road than the state of Rhode Island. Working with partners across the state I've authored and helped pass federal legislation, presented on energy issues to the Alaskan Legislature and helped reduce rural Alaska's dependence on imported fossil fuels. Outside of my full time job, I own and run a small energy efficiency and solar supply company, that has been in operation since 2012, Daylight Energy Services which has been a part of the 2 largest rural solar PV installations in the state. My wife and I invest in real estate in the Fairbanks community and I serve on the board of my local electric cooperative Golden Valley Electric Association where I was first elected as a Director for District 1 in 2017. It has been an honor to have the support of GVEA members in my community for that role and I work hard to keep our utility running strong and serving our membership.Most importantly I'm a father of 2 young kids and a husband to my amazing wife, Heid. We love getting outside and exploring all that Alaska has to offer while spending time with our kids.
