Rock Creek Studio is a land use planning firm focusing on providing exceptional professional design and planning expertise in shaping the future of rural and resort communities. Services have been provided to the public, non-profit and private sectors since 1997. In 2014, Dave joined forces with RPI Consulting (formerly known as the Rural Planning Institute), and continues to provide the creative and inspiring planning history of Rock Creek Studio under the banner of RPI.Dave Michaelson has completed Comprehensive Plans for the Towns of Marble, Carbondale, and Basalt and County Comprehensive Plans for Garfield County, Gunnison County, the Upper Crystal River Valley and the Island of Maui. Notable site design projects include the Waldorf School in Carbondale, Rock Creek Village Affordable Housing Project in Gunnison, the Pitkin Iron Affordable Housing Project in Aspen, Coryell Ranch in Garfield County, Silverton and Carbondale Downtown Revitalization Plans, the Animas River Trail in Silverton, design expertise for Redstone and Somerset Community Parks, Gunnison Whitewater Park and numerous design projects throughout the Rocky Mountain West. The firm's GIS capabilities have been featured in two books published by the Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI). Rock Creek Studio maintains a small collaborative environment that promotes creativity, open-minded design, and a rich tradition of public engagement while setting itself apart from the traditional corporate structure commonplace with traditional large planning and design firms.
