Clean Air Power was a venture-funded energy technology startup focused on the vehicle and power generation markets. We converted diesel engines to run on CNG and LNG. I led the product development team and served on two company boards in the U.K.

Kauai Electric (now Kauai Island Utility Cooperative, or KIUC) is the electric utility serving about 30,000 customers on Kauai. As VP & GM I led the profitable and reliable operation of the utility. Beginning in 2001 I managed the then pending transition from an investor-owned utility to a cooperative. Throughout my time at Kauai Electric I managed the development, permitting and construction of a new power plant site, water supply system, and transmission line.As Production Manager (until 2001) I directed all aspects of the company’s supply-side resources, including operations and maintenance; fuel, power, and labor contracts; personnel; environmental permitting; regulatory compliance; capacity expansion; and the economic dispatch of 12 generating units (combined-cycle combustion turbine, steam turbine, and diesel).

As technical service manager and service engineer I provided technical solutions and service support to a wide range of marine and power plant customers in the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean.

Seahawk Management operated 11 U.S. flag tankers and bulk carriers in worldwide service. I was one of the port engineers responsible for ship maintenance and repair.

The Antarctic research vessel Hero supported National Science Foundation projects in Antarctica, Chile and Argentina. I managed the safe and reliable operation of the ship's machinery and systems.
