Dave Munger is the executive director of the Council of Neighbors and Organizations, having served as president from October, 2008 to February, 2015. Prior to that time, he had served as a director-at-large on the CONO Executive Board.Dave is a retired small businessman, and a neighborhood champion. He is the past president of the Old North End Neighborhood Board (2006-2009), and a past member of the Board of the Park at Kissing Camels (2014). He is also active in the affairs of the city of Colorado Springs, having served on the City Council-appointed Citizens Transportation Advisory Board and as chair of its Trucking Issues Sub-committee, on the El Paso County Community Development Advisory Board, on the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority’s Citizens Advisory Committee, and as co-chair of the Citizens Stormwater Task Force.In addition, he is a member of the Colorado Springs Police Foundation, the Colorado Springs Fire Department Foundation, the Board of Ecumenical Social Ministries; a member of the Committee for Effective Government, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, and the Friends of Monument Valley Park; and a member of First United Methodist Church. He has attended Colorado Springs Citizens Academy and the Partnership for Community Design Community Planning and Design Workshop. In 2014, Dave was named “Volunteer of the Year” by the Pikes Peak United Way.Dave is a graduate of Kenyon College (A.B., philosophy) and Indiana University (M.A., Government). He served for three years on active duty as an Air Force Signals Intelligence Officer, . After active duty, he had an extensive career as an administrator in higher education, and then served for over 20 years as founding president of the management, research, and marketing consulting firm, Strategic Education Services, and as partner in Munger Academy, an early-learning center in Sterling, Virginia. He and his wife, Paula, are the parents of two grown children.
