Currently leading the Google Assistant's LLM efforts but always focused on the same mission: bringing natural language interfaces to transform how people relate to technology and computing.

- Led product for the ~450 person Assistant NLP team, which spanned operations (linguists, raters, data pipelines), production engineering, and research - Grew a top-notch team of very technical product managers

- Owned the Google Assistant language understanding platform. Bring best-in-class conversation design and understanding technologies to Google Assistant feature developers. Drive research and adoption of ML for dialog.- Lead Google Research NLU PM: 5 years working in Google Research to bring machine learned language understanding to Google products. Hired and managed linguists and PM's, worked with researchers and software engineers to advance the state of the art of language understanding, and represented Google NLU internally and externally.

- Designed a cloud-based project management app based on a new paradigm for project management. Designed and developed the back end using Python/Django in Amazon’s cloud, integrated with DropBox and Google docs.- Consulted with various startups on technology and strategy issues concurrent with angel investments. Developed and prototyped technology plans, advised on strategy and business issues.

Developed algorithms for search result summarization, using techniques such as gradient boosted decision trees to select the best content from the page. Identified and tested features in multiple machine learning environments. Created and oversaw a system for gathering judgment data from a team of editors. Trained and supervised the editors over a multi-year project. Used the data to hand tune a complex expert system, and as training data for a machine learning model intended to eventually replace the expert system.Published papers and filed for a patent relating to summarization.

Built and managed a team of developers and systems administrators, and managed all the technical work for the company, including software design and development as well as operations. Worked with senior management to transition the team to a new business model after the company changed business plans in mid 2001. Helped evaluate the model, created a technology plan for future company growth, and led design, development, and deployment of a web marketing research tool at the core of the new strategy.

Developed a major e-commerce site, eventually spun off into Beyond.com, a public company that sold downloadable software. Designed and implemented all commercial elements of the site, from order processing to financial reporting.Developed fraud detection software to estimate the likelihood that a credit card transaction was legitimate.Designed and led the creation of multiple tools including e-commerce site creation, delivery address verification, and client data collection and analysis.
