Storytelling has changed, and I've adapted with it. My journalism career began more than 30 years ago before emails and Instagram. Some of my main strengths include an abiilty to tell a story well, in words and visuals. As an editor and writer, my work engages audiences; I'm among the primary drivers of page views and digital subscriptions for the Naples and Fort Myers newspapers. And when Gannett needed editors in 2019 to help fill in at its papers in Lafayette, La., and El Paso, Texas (after the Walmart mass shooting) I spent a week there supervising reporters, photographers and other editors. In 2022, I helped report and edit stories when Hurricane Ian struck Southwest Florida. We received national and state awards for our coverage. For social media, I've upped my Instagram game in recent years by overseeing various accounts. Besides my personal account (@lacrossewriter), they include @InThe239 for the Naples Daily News and my @lacrossenaples where I post videos and photos on the growth of boys and girls lacrosse in Florida. It's exciting to constantly look for new ways to engage an audience, a challenge I accept and enjoy whether in my full-time job as an editor-journalist or as an Instagram storyteller.
