Quickly led KMLE Country to the top rated country radio position in Arizona.Exit from KMLE in 2008 due to the nation's economical downturn and corporate downsizing, especially for higher paid radio personalities. Quickly overcame former rock station KUPD as the top rock station in Arizona. Even more, KZON became one of Arizona's top rated rock stations of all time. Massive success with the combination of "Howard Stern in the Morning" and "Dave Pratt in the Afternoon".The need to balance high paid personalities prompted CBS to offer Dave Pratt the morning show on KMLE Country 108. After building KZON to Arizona's dominant rock station, Dave Pratt transitioned to build KMLE Country to the top position. Although during Pratt's tenure, CBS changed General Managers and Program Directors faster than underwear, his time at CBS was arguably the most successful period of his traditional "radio" career.

From a humble "DOUBLEWIDE" trailer in a Guadalupe dirt lot, "The Morning Mayor" quickly built KUPD into a national rock power for over 2 decades with the most loyal and passionate following in the history of Arizona radio. Dave Pratt re-branded the entire station creating logos, branding, identity, colors, marketing, events and more, all of which are still in use today by KUPD. In fact, even 2 decades later KUPD still serves as a living Pratt museum. Dave Pratt changed the station from just KUPD to 98KUPD "Arizona's Real Rock", created "The Big Red Radio", "Dave Pratt Red Cards", "U-Fest Concerts" and more. At only 19 years old, Pratt even designed the station logo which is still being used today. Dave Pratt's first radio job was in his small hometown of Elko, Nevada at only 16 year-old. He learned how to work radio equipment, take transmitter readings and all of the basics while hosting his own show on weekends and filling in on all other shows.
