I retired in 2019 as the Philanthropy Manager at Horizon House, a dynamic retirement community in Seattle. They have almost 600 residents between 62 and 102 and they a very active group. Horizon House has received several awards as one of the premiere retirement communities in the State of Washington.I am formerly the Director of Major Gifts and Community Outreach with St. Vincent de Paul having worked from June, 2012 until September, 2014. In that capacity I worked with major donors, various foundations, corporations and planned giving. Additionally I developed strategic relationships and pursued collaboration with other social service agencies and the business community in providing critically needed services to individuals and families in greatest need here in King County.I also raised awareness and funding for our Veterans program entitled Operation Veterans Renewal working primarily with our returning Veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. In addition to St. Vincent de Paul, I was a major gifts officer with Agros International from 2006-June 2012. Agros is involved with economic development and land ownership in partnering with the extreme rural poor in Central America and Mexico.Additionally, I have been a practicing attorney now for 40 years, acting full time with different law firms for 25 years in a varied trial and civil litigation practice and then leaving to join the nonprofit sector in 2005. I still maintain a small law practice out of my home and engage in estate planning, wills and trusts. Since 1980 I have served as a Board member and several times acting as Board Chair with 15 different nonprofits in the social and human services sector.
