I started my career with Voigt Shipping Richards Bay in 1996 as a Trainee Clearing & Forwarding Operator. In 2003, after once again moving back to the C&F department, I was promoted to Operations Manager - Clearing & Forwarding. I remained in that position until 2005 at which time I was transferred to our Cape Town branch as Operations Manager for both the Ships Agency and C&F departments. In 2008 I was promoted to Business Unit Manager in Saldanha Bay and in 2012, I transferred back to Richards Bay as Business Unit Manager.In June 2015 a training position was created to develop and train all agents around the country which was later extended to include Mozambique as well - National Operations Training Manager. I was in this role until being Retrenched in May 2920.Throughout my career I have been fortunate to have worked in different departments and ports around South Africa gaining invaluable experience. Towards the end of 2013 Grindrod bought Sturrock Shipping and shortly thereafter the the various agency brands like Voigt Shipping, Sturrock Shipping and King & Sons non-liner were merged into Sturrock Grindrod Maritime (SGM). I now have the pleasure of running the biggest ships agency in Richards Bay with a staff compliment of more than 40.My role includes, National Operations Training, Overseas Marketing, Financial Management and Expense Control, Business Growth and Client Retention, Staff Management and Motivation, ISO Management and Compliance to list a few.
