I have been in the business of retail for more than 30 years. I have worked for some of Canada's greatest retailers including Eatons Department Store and London Drugs. I have been the Property Manager and General Manager at Portage Place Shopping Cente in Winnipeg Manitoba since July 2008. I manage all aspects of the property including the development of the annual operating budget, capital plan and specialty leasing. As the GM of the property I have 22 employees including a Security Manager and an Operations Manager. Portage Place has a unionized workforce which includes 11 Cleaning staff and 4 Maintenance staff. My role includes managing the HR functions for the Centre as well as the negotiation and management of the Collective Agreement.I was a member of the Management Board and the Executive Committee of the Downtown Winnipeg Biz for 6 years. During part of this time I served as the Vice Chair of the Board. I participated as the Chair of the Image and Cleanliness committee, and sat on the Downtown Safety network (DSN), Nominating committee as well as the Manyfest Committee. I currently sit as a member of the Aboriginal Advisory Committee (2016 - where youth can go to learn how to dance, sing and hangout as an option to spending time on the street. We are now working on a space that showcases artwork and will provide work space for artists suffering from mental health issues.
