This fantastic role really paired up with my course at university and reinforced NHS core principles whilst providing support to vulnerable adults with varying levels of autism, schizophrenia or brain injury. This role has developed my communication skills by: Positively encouraging Service users to rehabilitate themselves back from injury to enable them to be more independentEnabling service users to live their daily lives by ensuring them that they are safe to do soGiving service users the ability to make their own positive life choices through encouragement and reassuranceThis role also included assisting with personal hygiene and care, administration of medicine, handling of service users money, assist with shopping, routine cooking and cleaning of living areas.

This role allowed me to demonstrate skills learned in a military environment and to implement them into a civilian job. Tasked to the ensure that help desk tickets were answered promptly and jobs were completed within service level timescales. Also entrusted to take equipment to branch offices and install additional network equipment.

Served on 2 tours of Afghanistan where roles included the maintenance of computer networks and satellite communication links back to the UK, installation of new equipment including vital radio links throughout the Kabul area. This role enabled me to manage my own workload, develop my communication skills and has made me competent at working in high-pressure environments and comfortable with working for extended periods of time.
