Since jointly founding BSP Consulting in 1999, I have been a director of the company, which has now completed more than 2,000 projects across the UK. I now currently act as a Consultant having stepped down as Managing Director at the end of 2020, following a transitional period as a Non Executive Director.The breadth of our expertise extends across all the main sectors, and we have worked on regeneration projects alone worth more than £1 billion. We offer a full civil, structural, traffic, transportation, geotechnical and environmental engineering service.Along with all the other senior staff at BSP Consulting, I have been a hands-on director involved in project work virtually on a daily basis. To date, I have had around 30 years in the industry, which I hope will stand me in good stead acting as a part-time Consultant.In 2012 I was honoured to be named a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers. The accolade is the highest grade of membership of the ICE and is given in recognition of experience, expertise and contribution to the industry.I regularly take part in the 10in10 – an annual 16-mile walk which conquers ten peaks in ten hours in the Lake District and which raises money for the MS Society…a charity that is very close to my heart.Multiple Sclerosis is a debilitating neurological disease with no cure, and I want to do what I can to raise money to help researchers discover new ways of treatment in the hope that one day a cure might be found.This particular event raises money specifically for research into stem cell treatment in MS and how stem cells could be used to repair myelin – the protective layer that surrounds nerve fibres which is damaged by MS.My wife Pat has been living with MS for more than 20 years.I would be very grateful for any donations in support of this very good cause.
