Dave Templin is a Retired Business Manager - Caterpillar Inc.. Colleagues describe him as "I had the great pleasure and honor of working with Dave when he was Business Resources Manager at Caterpillar France. He worked closely with all of the managers of the TTT/TTL Product Group, during a very challenging and stressful time. There are many jokes that have been made about the working relationship of engineers and accountants. But very few of those apply to Dave. In my experience, he was the best person I've ever worked with in that fraternity. While he was obviously highly skilled at the traditional accounting roles of making sure that rules were followed and the numbers were accurate, Dave's greatest value was that he and his staff worked so closely with other organizations to help improve the entire business. They were important and valued members of our teams. His business savvy and insight, and willingness to apply creative and untraditional approaches to business analysis to fit unique circumstances, were key to many successes we achieved at Cat France. Dave was also a great teacher. In focusing the skills of his organization on how to make our strategies succeed, we grew in our respect and understanding of the importance and value of the accounting and business support functions. It was really refreshing. Beyond all of that, Dave was and is a really fun accountant (a phrase that many engineers might find to be oxymoronic). But at the same time, he was highly professional and respectful, and a great pleasure to work with. I'm very proud that I can consider him to be a close friend to this day."
